Samantha Heathwood has been a part of the regional Australian media landscape for 15 years.

After studying Journalism at UQ in Brisbane, Sam got her first job in Rockhampton in 2005, where she started as a news reporter for WIN Television.

For the next five she worked as a journalist and presenter, reading the news for Cairns, Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton.

In 2010, Sam returned to her home town of Toowoomba, to present the news for three bulletins for the network.

Two years later, Sam and her young family moved to Sydney, where she got the opportunity to work for 9 News, producing and presenting the National Early News.

Sam moved back home to Queensland in 2014, taking time off to raise her two young boys, James and Henry, before returning to work as a reporter at 9 News in Brisbane.

For the next three years, Sam became an integral member of the 9 News Queensland team, reporting, and also presenting the 6pm and day-time bulletins.

In July 2017, Sam became the first presenter of the eight new Nine News Regional Queensland bulletins, and presents Nine News Darling Downs every night at 6pm.
